platelet count
Blood clotting measure
A platelet count is the number of platelets—cell fragments that help blood clot—in a given volume of blood.
It's a standard component of blood tests, used to diagnose bleeding disorders, monitor chemotherapy effects, or assess overall health.
A low platelet count increases bleeding risk; a high count may indicate infection or bone marrow disorders.
