portholes
Circular nautical windows
Portholes are small, typically circular windows in the side of a ship or aircraft.
The round shape and thick glass help withstand pressure and water.
On ships, portholes can often be opened for ventilation: She watched the coastline recede through the porthole.
The term sometimes extends to any small, round window.
