pop-under
Sneaky browser window
A pop-under is an online advertisement that opens in a new browser window behind the one you're currently viewing, remaining hidden until you close or minimize your main window.
Unlike pop-ups, which appear in front of your content and demand immediate attention, pop-unders are designed to be discovered later, making them harder to associate with the site that spawned them.
I closed my browser and found three pop-unders waiting for me.
