Take over forcibly
To hijack is to seize control of a vehicle—originally aircraft, but also ships, trucks, or cars—by force or threat, typically to redirect it or hold passengers hostage.
The term extends to any forcible takeover: Corporate raiders hijacked the company, The meeting got hijacked by one person's agenda.
A hijacker commits the act; a hijacking is the event.
