pole-vault

Soar using fiberglass

Pole-vault is an athletic event in which competitors use a long flexible pole to propel themselves over a high crossbar.

The vaulter sprints down a runway, plants the pole in a box, and rides the bending pole upward before releasing it to clear the bar.

As a verb, to pole-vault is to perform this action or, figuratively, to advance rapidly: She pole-vaulted from intern to executive in three years.
