hurdles
Jumping race frames
Hurdles are barriers to be jumped over, originally in track-and-field races where runners leap a series of them.
The sport itself is called hurdles or the hurdles: She won gold in the 400-meter hurdles.
By extension, any obstacle or difficulty becomes a hurdle: We still have a few hurdles to clear before the deal closes.
To hurdle is to jump over something while running.
