countback
Deciding by history
Countback is a method for breaking ties in competitions by reviewing earlier performance.
In golf, when players finish with the same score, a countback compares their scores on the final holes—last nine, last six, last three—until one has the advantage.
Other sports use similar retrospective comparisons: She won on countback after they finished level on points.
