discus throw
Olympic plate hurl
The discus throw is a track and field event in which athletes hurl a heavy disc as far as possible.
The thrower spins within a circular area to generate momentum before releasing.
One of the oldest athletic competitions, it appears in ancient Greek art and has been part of the modern Olympics since 1896.
