platform diving

Springless aquatic acrobatics

Platform diving is a competitive sport in which divers leap from a rigid platform fixed at a height above a pool—typically ten meters at the Olympic level—performing acrobatic maneuvers before entering the water.

Distinguished from springboard diving, which uses a flexible board that propels the diver upward, platform diving relies entirely on the diver's own power and the force of the fall.
