triple jump
Three-phase athletics leap
The triple jump is a track and field event in which athletes sprint down a runway, then execute three consecutive phases—a hop, a step, and a jump—before landing in a sand pit.
The distance from the takeoff board to the landing determines the result.
She set a personal record in the triple jump.
