poesy
Art of meter
Poesy is an archaic or literary word for poetry, or the art of composing it.
The word appears in older texts and deliberately old-fashioned contexts: the poesy of the Romantics.
It can also mean a brief motto or verse, especially one inscribed on a ring—also spelled posy.
