rondeau

Two-rhyme poem

A rondeau is a French verse form with strict rules: typically fifteen lines divided into three stanzas, using only two rhymes throughout, with the opening words repeated as a refrain.

The form was popular in medieval and Renaissance poetry.

More loosely, rondeau refers to any of several related French fixed forms with refrains.

In music, a rondeau is a vocal or instrumental piece based on this poetic structure.
