troubadour
Occitan love poet
A troubadour was a medieval poet-musician from southern France who composed and performed lyric poetry, usually about courtly love.
The term now applies more broadly to any wandering singer or minstrel: a folk troubadour traveling from town to town.
It can suggest romantic idealism about the performer's craft.
