plate armour
Medieval metal suit
Plate armour (also plate armor) is protective body covering made from shaped metal plates, developed in medieval Europe and reaching its most elaborate forms in the 15th and 16th centuries.
The plates are typically steel, curved and fitted to protect the torso, limbs, and head while allowing movement at joints through articulated segments.
A full suit of plate armour could weigh 20-25 kilograms and offered superior protection against swords and arrows compared to earlier chain mail.
The knight's plate armour gleamed in the tournament sun.
