BCD
Decimal in binary
BCD stands for binary-coded decimal, a system for representing decimal numbers where each digit is encoded as its own four-bit binary sequence.
Unlike pure binary, BCD preserves the decimal structure: the number 42 becomes 0100 0010 rather than 101010.
This makes conversion to human-readable displays simpler, which is why BCD appears in calculators, clocks, and financial systems where decimal precision matters.
