picture book
Child's illustrated volume
A picture book is a book, typically for young children, in which illustrations are central rather than decorative—often carrying as much or more of the narrative as the text.
The pages are usually large format with minimal words per spread: We read three picture books before bed.
The term sometimes describes any heavily illustrated book: a picture book of Italian architecture.
