sibling

Another parent's child

A sibling is a brother or sister—someone who shares at least one parent with you.

The term is useful when you want to refer to brothers and sisters collectively without specifying sex: I have three siblings.

Half-siblings share one biological parent; step-siblings are related through marriage rather than blood.

Sibling rivalry describes the competition and jealousy that often arise between children in the same family.
