peer group
Circle of equals
A peer group is a set of people who share a similar status, age, or background—especially those whose opinions and behavior influence each other.
The term appears most often in discussions of adolescent development, where peer groups shape identity and values: Peer group pressure can override parental influence.
In professional contexts, a peer group consists of colleagues at comparable levels or in similar roles.
