affinity
Pull toward something
In scientific writing, affinity refers to the attractions between substances or particles: The drug has a high affinity for the estrogen receptor.
Affinity also is used to characterize attraction or liking for a person, subject, or pursuit: The new composition reflects the composer’s lifelong affinity for Russian music.
Perhaps the most modern use of the word is in the compound affinity card, a credit card that provides some benefit for an organization that the card’s user wishes to support.
