outbreeding
Mating between unrelated
Outbreeding is mating between individuals that are not closely related, the opposite of inbreeding.
In animal husbandry and genetics, outbreeding introduces genetic diversity and can reduce the risk of inherited defects that accumulate when relatives reproduce: Outbreeding programs helped restore the endangered population.
The practice is sometimes called outcrossing.
