novela
Spanish soap opera
A novela (also telenovela) is a Spanish-language television serial drama, typically running for several months with a definite ending rather than continuing indefinitely like American soap operas.
The genre features melodramatic plotlines—forbidden love, family secrets, class conflict—and airs in prime time across Latin America and increasingly on U.S.
Spanish-language networks: My grandmother never missed her novela.
