newspeak
State-controlled vocabulary
Newspeak is language designed to limit thought by restricting vocabulary and eliminating nuance.
The term comes from George Orwell's novel *1984*, where the totalitarian government replaces English with a stripped-down language that makes dissent literally unthinkable.
Now used broadly for any official jargon that obscures truth or manipulates meaning: Corporate newspeak turned layoffs into "right-sizing".
