neodymium
Rare-earth magnet material
Neodymium is a metallic element, one of the rare earth metals.
Its most familiar application is in neodymium magnets—small but extraordinarily powerful permanent magnets used in headphones, hard drives, electric motors, and wind turbines.
The element gives glass and ceramics distinctive purple and pink tints.
