alnico

Magnetic alloy blend

Alnico is a family of iron alloys containing aluminum, nickel, and cobalt—the name combines their chemical symbols.

These alloys make powerful permanent magnets, used in electric motors, guitar pickups, and loudspeakers.

Before rare-earth magnets became common, alnico dominated applications requiring strong, stable magnetism.
