navigation light
Vessel position indicator
Navigation lights are colored lights on aircraft and watercraft that indicate position and direction of travel, allowing others to judge movement and avoid collisions.
Aircraft display red on the left wing, green on the right, and white at the tail.
Ships follow similar conventions.
The lights are required by law after dark and in reduced visibility.
