monoskiing

One-board snow sport

Monoskiing is skiing on a single wide ski with both feet secured side by side, rather than on two separate skis.

The sport requires different balance and technique than traditional skiing, with turns initiated by shifting weight and twisting the hips.

Monoskis were popular in the 1980s but have largely been displaced by snowboarding: He still monoskis, though you rarely see them on the slopes anymore.
