model numbers

Manufacturer's serial codes

Model numbers are alphanumeric codes assigned by manufacturers to identify specific products within a product line.

They distinguish variants by features, specifications, or generation: The model number is on the back of the TV.

Unlike serial numbers, which identify individual units, model numbers identify product types—useful for ordering parts, checking compatibility, or finding documentation.
