micrographs

Tiny specimen photos

Micrographs are photographs taken through a microscope, capturing images of specimens too small to see with the naked eye.

The term covers both light micrographs (using optical microscopes) and electron micrographs (using electron microscopes for higher magnification).

Scientists use micrographs to document cellular structures, materials, and microscopic organisms: The micrographs revealed damage to the cell membranes.
