astrophotographs
Pictures of stars
Astrophotographs are photographs of celestial objects—stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae, and other astronomical phenomena.
The term covers everything from long-exposure images of the night sky to detailed captures through telescopes: Her astrophotographs of the Orion Nebula won the competition.
The practice requires specialized equipment and techniques to compensate for Earth's rotation.
