microdot

Miniaturized secret message

A microdot is a photograph reduced to the size of a printed period, used historically to transmit secret information.

Spies embedded microdots in ordinary correspondence, invisible to casual inspection but readable under magnification.

The term also refers to tiny tablets of LSD, named for their similar size: He dropped a microdot at the concert.
