A hidden message is information concealed within something else—a letter, image, song, or text—that requires effort or special knowledge to detect.
The concealment may be intentional (steganography, coded communications, Easter eggs in media) or perceived where none was intended: Conspiracy theorists claimed to find hidden messages in the company logo.
Playing records backward to discover hidden messages was a moral panic of the 1980s.
