CPR training
Learning chest compressions
CPR training is instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation—the emergency technique of chest compressions and rescue breathing used when someone's heart or breathing has stopped.
Courses teach participants to recognize cardiac arrest, perform compressions at the correct depth and rate, and use automated defibrillators.
All lifeguards must complete CPR training.
Certification typically requires periodic renewal.
