wounded
Bearing an injury
Wounded describes someone or something that has been injured, typically by a weapon or violence.
A wounded soldier has sustained physical harm in combat; wounded pride or a wounded ego extends the meaning to emotional or psychological damage.
The wounded, used as a noun, refers collectively to injured people: Medics tended to the wounded after the attack.
As the past tense of wound, it describes the act of inflicting injury: The bullet wounded him in the shoulder.
