MASH
Battlefield medical unit
MASH is an acronym for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, a military medical unit designed to treat wounded soldiers near combat zones.
The term became widely known through the novel, film, and long-running television series set during the Korean War: The MASH unit operated around the clock during the offensive. (Lowercase mash is crushed matter or the verb for crushing.)
