matryoshka
Doll within doll
A matryoshka is a Russian nesting doll—a hollow wooden figure that opens to reveal a smaller figure inside, which contains another, and so on.
The dolls are traditionally painted as peasant women.
Figuratively, matryoshka describes anything with nested layers: The scandal revealed a matryoshka of shell companies.
