matryoshkas
Russian nesting dolls
Matryoshkas are Russian nesting dolls—a set of wooden figures that open to reveal progressively smaller versions of themselves inside.
Each doll splits at the waist to disclose the next.
The word extends figuratively to anything with nested or layered structure: The conspiracy was matryoshkas of deception, each revelation hiding another.
