marc
Pressed grape remains
Marc is the refuse matter from grapes or other fruit after pressing—the skins, seeds, and stems left behind in winemaking.
This pomace can be distilled into brandy, particularly the French eau-de-vie called marc (pronounced roughly like "mar"): a glass of marc de Bourgogne.
The term also applies to similar residue from other pressed fruits or plants. (Capitalized Marc is a given name.)
