quotation marks
Dialogue's written brackets
Quotation marks are punctuation marks that enclose direct speech, quoted text, or words used in a special sense.
In American English, double marks (" ") are standard, with single marks (' ') for quotes within quotes; British practice often reverses this.
Quotation marks also signal titles of short works, irony, or that a term is being discussed rather than used: The word "nice" once meant foolish.
