lugger

Small rigged vessel

A lugger is a small sailing vessel rigged with one or more lugsails—four-cornered sails set on yards that hang obliquely from the mast.

Luggers were historically common along European coasts for fishing and coastal trade, and their speed and maneuverability made them favorites of smugglers: The lugger slipped into the cove under cover of darkness.
