lowrider

Suspension-modified street machine

A lowrider is a car modified to sit extremely close to the ground, typically featuring hydraulic suspension that can raise and bounce the vehicle.

Associated with Chicano culture in the American Southwest, lowriders are often elaborately customized with chrome, custom paint, and plush interiors: He spent years restoring that Impala into a proper lowrider.

The term also refers to someone who drives such a car.
