barrio
Spanish-speaking enclave
A barrio is a Spanish-speaking neighborhood or district, especially in a U.S. city.
The term often refers to urban areas with predominantly Latino residents and culture: He grew up in the barrio.
In Spanish-speaking countries, barrio simply means neighborhood without the ethnic connotation it carries in American English.
