G-funk

Synth-heavy hip-hop

G-funk is a subgenre of hip-hop that emerged from West Coast rap in the early 1990s, characterized by slow, heavy beats, deep bass lines, and synthesizer melodies borrowed from 1970s funk.

The style was pioneered by Dr.

Dre and defined the sound of artists like Snoop Dogg and Warren G: That album is pure G-funk.

The "G" stands for gangsta.
