locksmith

Opens locked doors

A locksmith is a person who makes, repairs, and opens locks.

The trade involves cutting keys, installing security hardware, and helping people who have locked themselves out: We called a locksmith when we lost the house keys.

The word combines lock with smith, the old term for a metalworker.
