kippot
Head coverings, synagogue
Kippot is the Hebrew plural of kippah, the small cap worn by Jewish men as a sign of reverence to God.
In American English, the Yiddish term yarmulke is more common, but kippot appears frequently in Jewish religious contexts: A basket of kippot sat by the synagogue entrance for visitors.
