fez

Brimless felt hat

A fez is a flat-topped conical hat, usually red with a black tassel, traditionally worn by men in parts of the Middle East and North Africa.

Once common in the Ottoman Empire, the fez now appears mainly in ceremonial contexts or as part of organizational regalia—notably worn by members of the Shriners fraternal order in the United States.
