hoods

Parka head attachments

Hoods is the plural of hood in its various senses.

A hood covers the head, as on a jacket or sweatshirt, or covers an engine compartment.

Hoods are also neighborhoods, especially urban ones: Kids from different hoods don't always get along.

In slang, hoods are hoodlums—troublemakers or petty criminals: A bunch of hoods were hanging around the corner.
