kink

Curl stopping flow

A kink is a tight curl or twist in something normally straight—a kink in a hose, a kink in your neck.

Figuratively, a kink is a flaw or difficulty: We need to work out the kinks in the plan.

The word also refers to unconventional sexual practices or preferences, often involving bondage, role-play, or power dynamics: Everyone has their kinks.

Someone's kink is whatever arouses them outside the mainstream.

As a verb, to kink is to form a twist: The cable kinked when I coiled it too tight.
