bug
Creepy-crawly creature
Small creatures whose company we do not enjoy (insects, viruses, bacteria) are all called bugs.
A figurative bug is one that prevents a computer program from executing properly.
A bug can also be a hidden microphone; if you place one of these in a room, you bug the room.
You can also bug a person by annoying them.
If something bugs or bugs out, it protrudes or sticks out from its surroundings – either literally or metaphorically: Her eyes bugged out in disbelief.
