Keyholing refers to looking through a keyhole to observe secretly, or the effect of seeing only a narrow, restricted view of something larger.
In shooting, keyholing describes when a bullet tumbles and strikes the target sideways, leaving an elongated hole rather than a round one—indicating instability in flight.
In surgery and video games, keyholing means operating or viewing through a small opening: The surgeon performed the procedure through keyhole incisions.
The common thread is restriction to a narrow aperture.
