drywall tape
Joint finishing ribbon
Drywall tape is a strip of paper or fiberglass mesh used to cover and reinforce the seams between sheets of drywall.
The tape is embedded in joint compound, creating a smooth surface that hides the joints once painted: Apply the drywall tape while the mud is still wet.
Paper tape requires compound underneath; mesh tape is self-adhesive.
